NYC: MET Gala 2014

On May 5th, 2014, we here at The Xtra Mile flew to the Big Apple for one of the biggest events of the year: the MET Gala. This year’s theme was to celebrate the “Great American Couturier,” Charles James.  It is an event hosted by Anna Wintour, Vogue Magazine’s editor. For men, it was strictly a white tie event. The girls stunned the red carpet with their designers, notably Taylor Swift, Reese Witherspoon, Beyonce, Rihanna, Shailene Woodley, and much much more. To attend this event, you have to be invited and the tickets start from $25,000.

A little editors note: the MET Gala is what inspired us to open our blog. We really wanted to show you guys a bit of behind the scenes of the fun and fashion of this world, and the MET Gala showcases exactly that. Last year, we flew to New York City as well to glimpse the MET Gala and had a chance to see people like Anne Hathaway, Miranda Kerr, Rita Ora, and much more. This year, we have our blog and we wanted to share our experiences with you.

This year, we bumped into Taylor Swift, Reese Witherspoon, Emmy Rossum, Margot Robbie, Sarah Paulson, Douglas Booth… just to name a few. Although not entirely fan-friendly, we also got to see the Beckhams right in front of us! If you ever have a chance to visit New York City, the first week of May is definitely a time to go if you want to stargaze.
