Fan Expo Toronto returns to the Metro Convention Centre for a four day event

Fan Expo Toronto is back after a long two years without COVID restrictions. Last year Fan Expo Toronto had a limited edition event, but this year the full event returned with a four day show at the Metro Convention Centre with special guests Elijah Wood, Charlie Hunnam, Matthew Lewis, Stranger Things cast Joseph Quinn, Finn Wolfhard, Jamie Campbell Bower, Grace Van Dien, and more.

With four days of activities, Fan Expo Toronto brings thousands of fans for cosplay, panel sessions, photo-ops, gaming and more. Here are some of the highlights we captured from Fan Expo Toronto this year!

Death Note

Each year we’re super excited to see what fans come up with for the cosplay red carpet. Fan Expo hosts different themed cosplay red carpet events where fans can show off their work and get their pictures taken. Some really cool cosplays we saw this year were Death Note cast, Spongebob Squarepants, Pokemon, The ancient Magnus bride, Stranger Thing’s Vecna, Demon Slayer and more.

Celebrity Panels

Harry Potter’s Matthew Lewis

With so many different celebrity panels happening through out the weekend, we were able to listen in on Stranger Things Jamie Campbell Bower’s chat on becoming Vecna and what’s next for Stranger Things. Jamie tells us how he prepared for his role as Vecna and some inspirations that were created by using a booklet he’s made with pictures of the upside down, the mind flayer. He says finding out what the role of Vecna would entail was “a dream come true. This is the coolest thing in the whole world for me”. He also mentions Millie Bobbie Brown cried a lot, and walking around in the Vecna costume scared a lot of the crew members. He was also asked what his saviour song would be, and he tells us he’s been asked this question early on his press rounds and he said Miley Cyrus, but once he had a chance to think it through, his answers changed into the placebo cover of Running Up That Hill.

We also listened in on Harry Potter’s Neville Longbottom, Matthew Lewis’ panel and what’s he been up to since the series. He mentions he hasn’t done much other than Scuba Diving. His favourite Harry Potter movie to film was Deathly Hallows Part 2 because of the payoff that Neville deserve and all the lines he had. Lewis tells us the most difficult thing about being a young actor was “not being able to have braces on my teeth and having stupid haircuts.
