The Long & Winding Roadshow Tour makes its way to Hard Luck Bar

Monday November 10th was no ordinary dreadful Monday, this was because The Long & Winding Roadshow Tour made its way to the Hard Luck Bar in Toronto.  A tour headlined by Nick Santino featuring This Century, Brian Marquis, Austin Gibbs, The Technicolors, and for one night only the, Bitter Kids.

*Disclaimer *Due to TTC rerouting/getting lost, I ended up missing Bitter Kids, The Technicolors and Austin Gibbs. However as soon as I entered Hard Luck I could tell this was going to be a good night.

The first artist I managed to catch was Brian Marquis.  As soon as he took the stage you could tell just by looking at him that he knew what he is doing. He looked confident yet calm and his performance surely proved that. Overall brain’s voice complimented the lyrics that went along quite well. Playing both upbeat and slow songs the audience seemed to be enjoying themselves.

This Century

Next up was This Century. Normally a full band but since this was an acoustic tour only Joel Kanitz (Lead Singer) and Sean Silverman (Guitarist) preformed, with occasional help from other acts that played that night. Kanitz’s use of a loop pedal made the performance even more unique by allowing there to be a beat behind his voice and all the instruments being played. The fans got to hear some of their favourite songs (To Love & Back, Slow Dance Night, and Talk the talk) allowing them to sing along to every word. Having seen them before as a full band I was quite curious to see/hear how they would be without the electric guitars and drums backing them up. I can now say that they were just as good.

Nick Santino

Being the headliner, Nick Santino was the last to play. As he took the stage you could see that the crowd was anxiously waiting to hear the start of the first song. Starting the set of with Have a little faith in me was a good way to start the set, as it introduced those who might have only heard rocket to the moon’s songs on what the rest of the night was going to be like. Fans of all ages had the chance to sing along to their favorite songs such as Mood Ring Eyes, Miss Virginia and Too Good. Nick Santino kept the fans laughing and smiling all night by joking about feeling the need to play heavier songs as he was wearing a slipknot shirt, as well as how he wrote a rap song on the bus and wanted to play a couple lines to the crowd.  As the night went on it was quite evident to see the Nick Santino was doing something he’s good at and clearly enjoys doing. Santino, joined with the rest of the artists who played that night, closed the set with long way home.

After the show was over fans could meet all the artists that played that night.

Leaving with signed merchandise, pictures on their phones and smiles on their faces everyone who attended could agree this was a truly an up close and intimate show.
