ALBUM REVIEW: Conchita Wurst – Conchita

Conchita
Conchita

Conchita Wurst took the world by storm in 2014 after winning the Eurovision Song Contest for her homeland, Austria. The win was controversial amongst social conservatives and right wingers due to their lack of open mindedness. Forward to May 2015 the world LGBT icon readies to release her new album aptly named – Conchita.

I was excited to take on this project of reviewing her first album. Conchita Wurst is one of my hair idols. To me the album had a grande-pop anthemic sound reminiscent of the 80’s, going all over the place.

While listening to the album I got the feeling that Wurst should start a career on Broadway. Her crisp voice sounds perfect when backed up with an orchestra as proven in Where Have All The Good Men Gone; its the sexiest track on the album.  Out of Body Experience is catchy, giving off a Middle Eastern vibe. Somebody To Love and Firestorm are her clubbiest tracks, both are very smooth and electronica, showing off her strong vocals. Going back to what I said about her starting a Broadway career her ballads Pure and Heroes tend to back that up.

After finishing up the album I couldn’t help but feel confident that is just a beautiful beginning for Conchita Wurst, after all the history maker has a lot of talent to share with her fans, her critics and the world.
