PANAMANIA unveiled for Pan Am/Parapan Am Games arts and culture festival

The TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games arts and culture festival announced the official Panamania line up that will feature more than 1,300 artists in 250 performances and exhibitions across Toronto from July 10 to August 15 (35 Days). With 25 venues, 40 national presentations and over 28 new works commissioned by TO2015.

Major music headliners scheduled to perform free outdoor concerts during PANAMANIA will include the Flaming Lips, A Tribe Called Red, Janelle Monae, Chromeo, Jann Arden, Death from Above 1979, Lights, Luciano, Dragonette and more.

The Honourable Michael Coteau, Minister Responsible for the 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games believes this will really build the infrastructure and add to cultural make up of the province and drive tourist to Cultural richness.  These programs are for the athletes, but it goes beyond that and for the culture and province of Ontario.

There will also be show cases such as Young world faces of Pan Am, an exhibit by Robert Young where he took 42 photos of different people to represent the 42 nations.

One of the themes featured will be Aquaculture, where water is celebrated as a powerful and unify source and an agent of change. It unities all the countries and each artist was challenged to use water as their inspiration.

Diversity is one of Canada’s greatest strengths. The $1.4-million investment from the Government has made in PANAMANIA Live at Nathan Phillips Square provide an opportunity to raise awareness of the vibrant heritage of our diverse regions and cultural communities while celebrating the Games. This will be a meeting place for families of the athletes and will include various artists that can share and gain from each other.
