TIFF 2026 Reviews: Yaga

Yaga is A Sexy, Suspenseful Mystery That Leaves You Wanting More

Yaga is definitely worth all the hype! Inspired by the legendary Baba Yaga figure from Slavic folklore, the series brings a modern, sexy twist to the classic tale, blending mystery, crime, and supernatural elements into an incredibly captivating thriller.

The story follows the disappearance of Henry Park (Hudson Williams), a wealthy young man from a small coastal town. As the investigation unfolds, local police officer Carson (Clark Backo) finds herself working alongside private investigator Rapp (Noah Reid), uncovering dark secrets and mysterious connections that suggest there’s much more happening beneath the surface.

What makes Yaga so entertaining is its ability to keep you guessing. The pacing is spot-on, with each scene revealing just enough information to pull you further into the mystery. The combination of a missing-person investigation, ancient magic, and unexpected twists creates an atmosphere filled with suspense and intrigue. The series also benefits from a stellar cast, including Noah Reid, Clark Backo, and a magnetic Carrie-Anne Moss, who plays the mysterious Katherine. Their performances add another layer of intrigue to the story, making the characters just as interesting as the mystery itself.

One of the biggest highlights is how addictive the storytelling becomes. Just when you think you’re getting closer to understanding what’s happening, another revelation leaves you with even more questions. The cliffhangers are especially effective, making it almost impossible not to want to jump straight into the next episode.

Overall, Yaga is a thrilling and entertaining reimagining of classic folklore that delivers mystery, suspense, and plenty of unexpected surprises. It’s the kind of series that hooks you from the very beginning, and I honestly cannot wait to watch the rest of the season.
