TIFF 2026 Days 2 & 3 Red Carpet Roundup: Obsession, Misty Green, I Play Rocky & More

TIFF 2026 kept the momentum going into Days 2 and 3, with everything from a special return screening of a Midnight Madness favourite to some major surprise celebrity appearances on the red carpet.

We checked out the special Obsession screening, caught the Misty Green carpet with Anna Kendrick and Chris Rock, and finished things off with I Play Rocky, where we got the chance to ask P.J. Byrne about one of the biggest bets he has ever made on himself.

Here are some of our favourite moments from the next few days of TIFF 2026.

Obsession Returns to TIFF

One of the coolest full-circle moments of the festival came with Obsession, which returned to TIFF after the film originally took off at Midnight Madness the year before. The special screening gave audiences another chance to experience the film at the festival where so much of its journey began, followed by a Q&A with Inde Navarrette and director Curry Barker. There was something really cool about seeing the film come back to TIFF after the response it received the previous year, especially knowing how important the festival had been in helping build its momentum.

And there was another familiar face in the audience too. Hudson Williams was spotted watching the screening, making it another fun TIFF celebrity sighting.

Misty Green Brings Out Some Major Names

On September 12, we headed to the red carpet for Misty Green, where Anna Kendrick, Chris Rock, Daniel Kaluuya and Topher Grace were among the names walking the carpet.But one of the biggest surprises of the night came when Kevin Hart showed up to support his friend Chris Rock.

That is always one of my favourite parts about TIFF. You might head to a carpet expecting to see the cast of a film, and suddenly another huge celebrity shows up simply to support someone they know.

Between Kendrick, Rock, Kaluuya, Grace and the surprise appearance from Hart, Misty Green ended up being one of the more star-packed carpets we had covered so far.

I Play Rocky Hits the TIFF Red Carpet

We also headed to the red carpet for I Play Rocky, which screened as part of TIFF’s Special Presentations programme. Director Peter Farrelly attended alongside Anthony Ippolito, Kiki Seto, Stephan James, P.J. Byrne, Tracy Letts, Jay Duplass, Nikki Tyler-Flynn and Erik Palladino.

When we asked Anthony Ippolito to describe the film in one word, he initially said it was very difficult before coming back to the idea of “heart,” which feels pretty fitting for a story connected to Rocky.

One of our favourite moments from the carpet, though, came from P.J. Byrne. We asked Byrne about a time in his own career when he had to bet on himself or walk away from something in order to chase what he really wanted.

His answer took us all the way back to the beginning of his acting career.Byrne shared that he actually walked away from a job on Wall Street after one of his teachers at Boston College encouraged him to turn it down, go to graduate school and learn how to become a proper actor.He called it one of the greatest pieces of advice he had ever received.And the story felt even more meaningful considering where he was standing while telling it. Byrne also shared that I Play Rocky is the biggest role he has ever had in a movie, joking that much of his career could previously be described as standing “over the shoulder, out of focus” beside the stars. Now, he finally gets the chance to step into focus himself.

It was one of those red carpet answers that ended up being about much more than the movie. It became this really nice reminder of how one decision can completely change the direction of your life.

Another Packed Few Days at TIFF 2026

Between seeing Obsession return to the festival where its journey really took off, Kevin Hart unexpectedly showing up at Misty Green, and hearing P.J. Byrne talk about walking away from Wall Street to become an actor, Days 2 and 3 gave us some completely different sides of TIFF.

And that is kind of what makes covering the festival so fun.

One minute you are at a screening, the next you are spotting someone unexpected in the audience, and a few hours later you are standing on a red carpet hearing an actor talk about the decision that changed their entire career.
