TIFF 2025 Red Carpet Roundup: Thursday, Friday, Saturday Highlights
TIFF 2025 is in full swing, and the first two days already brought unforgettable red carpet and Q&A moments. From Bill Skarsgård reflecting on “tenderness” in Sentimental Value, to Sydney Sweeney getting teary while honoring Christy Martin at the Christy premiere, it’s been a star-studded start to the festival. Friday also lit up with the Fuze, Poetic License, and Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man carpets, not to mention Roofman with Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst. Here’s a look at the highlights.
Thursday Highlights:

Sentimental Value
At the Sentimental Value red carpet and Q&A, Stellan Skarsgård gave us one of the most thoughtful takeaways of TIFF so far:
“I mean, I think you should take away the tenderness of it. And experience the tenderness and think about it. Think about tenderness a lot.”
When asked about personal connections to his character, Skarsgård admitted:
“There are superficial sides that are exactly the same almost. I mean, I’m being an artist and obsessed with my work. I need my work to survive, to live, and to be me. And at the same time, I want to be with my family. You can’t solve that problem.”

Co-star Renate Reinsve echoed the sentiment, calling the film simply: “Tender.”
Friday Highlights:

Christy
The Christy premiere brought one of the weekend’s most emotional moments. On stage, Sydney Sweeney fought back tears as she addressed real-life boxing legend Christy Martin:
“You are absolutely incredible, and I’m so honored. I’m gonna cry, oh my god. You’re so inspirational… it was a dream come true, as an actor, as you are.”
It was beautiful, heartfelt, and one of those TIFF moments that reminds you why this festival means so much to actors and audiences alike.

Fuze
On the Fuze carpet, Sam Worthington called the film “visceral and thrilling.”
Saturday Red Carpets:

Poetic License
Meanwhile at Poetic License, cast members summed it up in a few powerful words:
- Leslie Mann: “Perfect.”
- Martha Kelly: “Wonderful.”
- Maude Apatow: “Poetry.”

Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man & Roofman
Two of TIFF’s buzziest carpets happened side by side Friday night.
- Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man brought out Daniel Craig, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, and Daniel O’Connor.
- Meanwhile, Roofman drew big cheers with Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst walking the carpet together.

It was a night where you could feel TIFF’s energy stretching across the city- the kind of overlap that only happens at this festival.
