“The Moving On Tour” makes its way to the Phoenix Concert Theatre

On Friday December 12th ‘The Moving On Tour” moved its was to the Phoenix Concert Theatre.  With a tour consisting of The Family Ruin, Upon a Burning Body, Chelsea Grin, Blessthefall and Headliners; Asking Alexandria this show was definitely one of the heaviest shows I’ve been too this year.

The Family Ruin
As the stage went dark and crowd screamed with excitement, The Family Ruin took the stage. Opening the set with bring out your dead followed by Cirque Du Sin allowed the crowd to get a feel of what The Family Ruin had to offer. For being a relatively new band they had amazing stage presence. Even though it was a relatively short set they truly showed the crowd that they knew how to rock.  At the end of the set those in the crowd, who never even heard of them started cheering their name.

Upon a Burning Body
Upon a Burning Body was up next. This set was nothing short of dark/brutal. With the lighting being mostly back lighting it set up the visual that upon a burning body was going for. Playing fan favourites like Sin City and Texas Blood Money had the crowd chanting along to every word. Upon a Burning Body ended their set off with a cover of Turn Down for What ft. Ice-T. and as soon as the song started everyone started to jump, dance and mosh.

Chelsea Grin
Having been a fan of Chelsea Grin for a while but never seeing them before I was quite curious to see how they would be live. Playing songs like Playing With Fire, Clockwork, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and Recreant, they had the crowd begging for more by the end of their set. As soon as their set was done fans had the chance to meet the band at their merch table.  After seeing their set I can definitely say that they are actually pretty good live.

Blessthefall
Blessthefall’s set was the most interactive of the night. Even before the lights went out the crowd was cheering for them very loud and clear. As soon as the lights went out the loud roar of the crowd was just a taste of how rowdy the crowd would get throughout the rest of the set. Opening with You Wear a Crown But You’re No King had a good portion of the crowd moshing. As the set went on front man Beau Bokan had the crowd making massive circle pits and huge wall of death’s that even the most hardcore fan was left feeling drained afterwards. Blessthefall’s stage presence was amazing as always and I would have to say they were the best of the night.

Asking Alexandria
As I was making my way up to the front of the crowd in order to get to the photo pit, all I could hear were people chanting “Asking Alexandria”. When I saw the crowd was excited, they were really excited, this is because the chanting started about 30 minutes prior to when the were expected to go on stage. As anticipation kept building the louder the crowd became. The house lights went dark and the stage light up it was finally time.

As the band made their way on stage and launched into “Don’t Pray for Me” fans kept screaming. Asking Alexandria played an amazing set playing a mixture of new songs and fan favourites such as “A Prophecy” and “The Final Episode (Let’s Change the Channel). Danny Worsnop and Ben Bruce kept the crowd laughing at their “interesting” and funny covers of classic rock songs. The set ended with “Death of Me” followed by “Poison”. As the headliners of the night, Asking Alexandria certainly did not disappoint. We also had the chance to interview Ben Bruce back in July.
