#REVIEW: The Best Of Me
Based on the bestselling novel by Nicholas Sparks, once again Sparks wins our hearts with his latest film The Best Of Me. The story starts off with two long lost high school sweethearts, Dawson Cole (James Marsden) and Amanda Collier (Michelle Monaghan) who meet again after 20 years because of the death of their mentor Tuck. The movie flashes back to 1992, when young Dawson ( Luke Bracey) who comes from a violent lawbreaking family, who meets young wealthy Amanda (Liana Liberato) and fall in love but can’t be together due to difficult circumstances.
The young couple both go their own ways, and meet again in 20 years and rekindle their love. The premises of this movie is “Can love be given a second chance?” What else can you expect from a Nicholas Sparks movie? It’s no surprise that there’s a death in the movie, just like there was in the last few Sparks movies. Though some parts of the movie were a bit predictable, I got to give credit for chemistry between the two young actors Liberato, and Bracey. Though I must say, Bracey looks a lot older than a high school student.
This was definitely one of Sparks greater films, there was a bit of a surprise near the end. Also, Marsden did an excellent job portraying the role of Dawson, which was initially given to Paul Walker. Marsden was almost unrecognizable, but the chemistry between him and Monaghan was undeniable.
I personally am a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks’ novels and movies. I love romance and I did have a good cry out of it. Most girls love romantic comedies, and this film has enough of humor and the hope to fight for love which will definitely keep you hooked.
The Best of Me releases on Friday, October 17th, 2014 (Today!).
