#REVIEW: Love, Rosie

Can guys and girls really just be friends? Based on the best selling novel known in the U.K. as Where Rainbows end, Love, Rosie tells a tale about two childhood sweethearts and best friends who are destined to be together. Time just never seems to be on their side. The movie flashes back to twelve years ago when Alex (Sam Claflin) and Rosie ( Lily Collins) are finishing their final year of high school with plans to go to college together in Boston. Like most romance films, it is predictable and we can already see from the beginning that these two are meant for each other. They know everything about each other, and understand one another better than anyone else. It starts off with Alex showing his affection for Rosie, but not being able to tell her up front and that’s when they first lose their chance at love. Things quickly fall apart and Rosie becomes pregnant with an inexperienced jerk (Christian Cooke) and their dreams of going to college together shatter. Alex finds a new girlfriend Bethany (Suki Waterhouse), and Rosie starts to realize the depth of her affection towards him. Alex leaves to Boston for college, and the movie continuously fast forwards through the good and conflicting times throughout their relationship.

Though the two keep in contact throughout the years, they are both battling through their own relationships and crossing paths but the timing never seems to be quite right. Either one gets married, while the other one is single, neither of them can admit their affection for one another until it’s too late.  68513-LR-FP-31 (1)

As cheesy as the film might be, it does have quirky humor and the chemistry between the two actors is undeniable. Love, Rosie displays the right amount of quirky and romance in the storyline. Most people can already predict what will happen in a love story, but seeing the two actors fight their way through the thick and thin of any obstacles, is what makes this film worth seeing.
