Metric Album Release Show: Pagans in Vegas

Metric is one of the biggest bands in the Canadian music scene and normally play huge venues like the Air Canada Center, so when indie 88 announced that they would be playing a small album release show at the Danforth Music Hall on September 24 I was extremely excited.

The announcement of this show was only a week and a half before the actual date and the only way to get a ticket was to either be one of the few people who were able to purchase the extremely cheap ($20) tickets online or to be the few lucky people to win the tickets either from a radio station or go on scavenger hunt across the city. When the date actually came Metric had announced that if you showed up to the venue with an animal mask the first 100 people would get in for free.

When I arrived to the venue the line was all the way down to the end of the street as excepted. As soon as the doors opened people rushed in to guarantee they got a good spot. However with that being said at the Danforth Music hall everywhere you stand is a good spot thanks to the slight tilted floor.

After waiting for an hour and a half, metric finally made their way one stage. As each band member came on stage they were wearing animal masks, Emily Haines (Lead Singer) was dressed in a full peacock outfit. The first song of the night was “Lie Lie Lie”, which was then quickly followed by “Fourtunes” from their newly release album Pagans in Vegas.

Even though this show was to showcase their new album, metric made sure to leave some time for their older adored songs. These songs included, “Stadium Love, Monster Hospital, and Gimme Sympathy”

The last song of the night was “Celebrate” of their new album.

With the animal masks, a fun light show, confetti, bubbles and good music this made for one awesome night!
