Laysla De Oliveira in Toronto to promote Paramount + Original series Special Ops: Lioness

The newest Paramount+ original series SPECIAL OPS: LIONESS held its Canadian premiere here in Toronto this week and we had the pleasure of attending! The series stars Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Jill Wagner and Laysla De Oliveira. It premiered at the TIFF Lightbox Theatre on Tuesday to a theatre of wildly excited tv-lovers, as well as some stars of the show! The premiere had loads of free popcorn, drinks, and snacks thanks to Paramount, along with an incredible Q&A with the series star, Laysla De Oliveira! De Oliveira is originally from Toronto and revealed that she actually used to live in the TIFF building, making this premiere a massive full-circle moment for her. She explained her journey in being cast on the show, how it felt to work amongst some of the greatest actors of our time, and even dished on her days with Taylor Sheridan on the YELLOWSTONE set.

The first episode of SPECIAL OPS: LIONESS is jam-packed with action, drama, and a whole lot of heart—mostly thanks to De Oliveira’s character Cruz. Although the episode was fantastic, the highlight of the night had to be the after-party! Paramount always knows how to throw a good party. It was an exclusive invite-only affair, hosted on the rooftop terrace with a beautiful sunset view of the city. Along with an open bar and bottomless heuer d’oeuvres, there were also cheese burgers, pork sliders, and… DONUTS! After getting a drink, we mingled and chatted with a whole lot of amazing people including De Oliveira’s co-star from LOCKE & KEY Hallea Jones and Toronto’s rising star Madison Caan. All in all, Paramount+ knows how to throw a great after party and we at The Extra Mile cannot wait for the next one!
