Jeff Timmons returns to Toronto to chat about “Men of the Strip”
We’re all familiar with the boy band 98 Degrees. Former band member and founder Jeff Timmons returns to Toronto to promote his new show “Men of the Strip.”
The show aired June 1st as a two-hour movie event on E! This sexy new docusoap features Jeff Timmons, Glenn Douglas Packard and Mike Foland training a group of men in performing and entertaining to add value to the “Male Revue.” It follows the journey of the men as they start prepping for their first Las Vegas performance. Along the journey we see members dealing with their private and professional lives in order to impress the female audience and make them scream.
We recently caught up with Jeff Timmons to discuss his role on Men of the Strip, future projects, and what we can expect from 98 Degrees.
Read our interview with Jeff Timmons below
1. Your new show “Men of the Strip” is very different than anything else on television. We’re so used to seeing half-naked women on TV, now we’re seeing half-naked men. What is it like to be a part of something like this and to have co-created it?
I hosted a male revue years ago and saw the reaction of the females in the audience. Female adult entertainment has been taboo for years, and movies like Magic Mike have made it very mainstream now. I thought the showing these gentlemen in the cast behind the scenes would fascinate girls AND guys.
2. How does it feel to be branching out into reality television? You have been known for so long as Jeff from 98 Degrees and now you are wearing an additional career hat so that must be both exciting and daunting!
To me, it’s extremely exciting. I’m in the show here and there, but we are co-producers of the show, so I’m enjoying the spotlight being cast on other people, letting them enjoy the attention, and for me, just creating something different.
3. What is the key to maintaining your great body shape? What advice would you give to people wanting to get in shape (through dance or otherwise)?
Obviously the cardio from dancing would do the trick, but muscle confusion is the key I think. HIIT training, Yoga, free weights; all of these are amazing ways to maintain a great physique.
4. We haven’t really heard much from 98 Degrees since last year. What can we expect from the group in the future?
I think we’re all just doing our own things again for now, but we are always open to the possibility of working together again.
5. Tell us about your new solo project and plans.
I’ve got a fantastic array of new material, and I’m extremely excited to share it with the world. The creative process has been a great experience as I am getting to work with some wonderful Canadian producers and co-writers on this project. I hope to have the new single out in July and a solo album in the fall.
6. Any words for your fans in Toronto and Canada?
Thank you for all of the support throughout the years. I have an affinity for the Canadian fans because Canada was one of the first places that truly embraced 98 Degrees.
