#INTERVIEW Robbie Amell at the Toronto Premiere of ‘The DUFF’
Toronto born and raised actor Robbie Amell is returning to the big screen. This time as a high school football jock in his new film The DUFF, which hits theaters everywhere this Friday! Last night, we had the chance to talk to Robbie on his new role, and if we’ll ever see him alongside his cousin Stephen Amell in Arrow.
1. Your roles are usually potrayed as a popular, good looking, jock character. What would you say the biggest difference or challenges in portraying Wesley in The DUFF?
The beginning of it. Because he says these things and they have to come from a place where they aren’t mean. But they are very mean things to say. So just trying to find the balance of saying mean things, without meaning them to be mean.
2. We just saw you as Firestorm on The Flash, will we be seeing more of you?
You’re seeing more of me on the latest episode and then you’ll have to see what happens.
3. Any chance of you working with your cousin Stephen Amell on Arrow?
I’m really trying to get on the screen with my cousin, supposabley they’re trying to find an active way to do it. Who knows?
4. How do you go the Xtra Mile?
Well I just kind of feel like so many of many of my friends have 9-5 jobs, and when I’m working the job hours are longer than that. But when I’m not, they’re much less so that’s when you have to put the work in. When you don’t have the job but so much free time. You got to go to the gym, you got to read scripts, you can’t let yourself get sloppy.
eOne Films releases The DUFF on Friday, February 20, 2015. Check out the trailer below!
