Unlike any other music festivals, Field Trip is not just about the music, it’s about the arts & culture. Last weekend Field Trip took place at the Historic Fort York & Garrison Common. The festival showcases some the original festival arts, Camp Day Space, and even a marketplace. 

On the first day, we had a chance to catch indie rock group Brave Shores, who won the crowd over with their catchy melodies and smiles on their face during their set. The band performed some of their hit songs such as “Part Time Believer” and “Limit of Love” . The band definitely impressed fans and even won the hearts of some new fans.

Next on the main stage, was July Talk, who we have seen perform numerous of times, but now releasing some new music for fans to listen too. The band opened their set with “Push and Pull” which everyone knew the lyrics too and the energy throughout the performance really spread to the audience.

The last performer of the day was headliner The National, who closed the night with a lasting impression. The band opened their set with “Don’t swallow the cap” and performed some of their other singles such as “Sea of Love” and other hit singles from their latest album “Trouble will find me” . The band played through their whole set without a single break , making sure everyone in the audience had an experience of a lifetime.

The following day, due to the weather there was a bit of a delay in the performances. Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires and Eliot Sumner had to delay their set a bit because fans were asked to evacuate the site due to severe weather for several hours . Around 5:30 p.m. the set resumed and everything went as planned with Robyn headlining day two and ending the festival with a huge smile on everyone’s faces.

Toronto seems to be a major hit for severe weather problems, but each festival finds a way to overcome mother nature and make it an epic weekend!
