#CanadianMusicWeek Presents Vinyl Theatre
Keegan Calmes, Chris Senner, Nick Cesarz and Josh Poither are the four guys that make up electro/indie/rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Vinyl Theatre. And On Thursday May 7, I had the pleasure of watching them play to an intimate crowd at the Esplanade Bier Markt.
After taking a 30-minute streetcar ride I was finally at the venue. Before I went in I thought that this place was going to be packed as it looked like the whole patio had been taken up. Upon entering I then realized that a lot less people were in the actual restaurant.
Vinyl Theatre began playing their first song “shine on,” it was easy to see that the majority of people were not there to see them play and after looking around, only a handful of people were there to watch Vinyl Theatre.
As they continued on with their set they seemed to have caught the attention of those people at their tables eating dinner. Keegan’s vocals along with the rest of the band’s energy and catchy tunes had those who were only interested in what they were eating, now interested with what was going on, on stage.
Vinyl Theatre ended their set with their hit single “Breaking Up My Bones.”
While their set seemed short they played a total of five songs, some of which included “If They Say So” and “Gold.”
Overall I would have to say that Vinyl Theatre put on a fantastic performance. Here’s to hoping that next time they roll into Toronto they get the crowd and attention they deserve.
