#CanadianMusicWeek Presents Poor Young Things

Poor Young Things

Winning the Sirius XM Emerging Artist of the Year award last year, Poor Young Things were at the award show this year to present the title to a new artist. Coming from Thunder Bay, the five lads formed together in high school; lead singer and guitarist Matt Fratpietro, guitarists Michael Kondakow and Dave Grant, bassist Scott Burke and drummer Konrad Commisso formed Poor Young Things with a big dream and a door of opportunities ahead of them. “Whoever wins tonight, just make sure you’re paying attention, unlike us last year,” they joked. Poor Young Things have toured across North America with festivals such as Warped Tour, “It’s always HOT. We’re sad when we come back every year and the skateboard ramp is gone.”

They told us what it was like winning the Sirius XM award last year, “It gave us opportunities, but it also helped us fund our band more, because you win money. Are they winning money this year? We don’t know!” We also had a chance to chat with them about upcoming music in the near future. Planning to release an album in the coming year, they gave us thoughts about their music expanding and growing, “Music should always grow even though fans always think it’s a better idea to stick with the same sound. Music should always change otherwise you’ll always be in the same level.”

Poor Young Things graced the stage and presented the Emerging Artist Award to Mounties this year. Listen to some of their music, specifically “Sign of the Times”, below.
