Brett and Andrew of The Glorious Sons

Kingston, Ontario born band The Glorious Sons have come a long way from when they first formed as a band almost over 18 months ago. They have opened for bands across the city such as Finger Eleven, and The Trews. They are on their way to releasing their first ever EP in September and will be touring the East Coast in the Fall. The band was nominated for Emerging Artist at the SiriusXM’s Indie awards and we caught up with two of the band members, guitar and vocals Andrew Young, and keyboards and lead vocalist Brett Emmons. Read our interview below!

How excited are you guys? You guys are nominated for Emerging artist? How does that make you feel tonight?
It’s awesome , some of the bands we’re up against, we went on tour with them, so we’re in good company with them. It’s pretty awesome.

What are you guys up to lately? Have you preformed for CMW yet?
Yeah we had the Black Box 10 year anniversary showcase on Friday. So we played that night, it was a lot fun. Now we’re up in Hamilton right now recording .

I heard you guys started in Kingston actually? What’s it like moving to the big city?
We actually still all live in Kingston, a small town of 1000 people.

It’s pretty big when you come here. Do you like the city life?
I hate it, everybody always says places to go. But I don’t know, it’s refreshing to come here once in awhile. We caught a Jays game the other night but a couple days here and there we miss home. Our friends and family are our biggest supporters, they always have been. They follow us all over Ontario, even Brett and Jay’s grandpa who came to Thunder Bay to catch a show. He’s the coolest, he calls me candy eyes, he calls us all candy eyes. Friends and family have been the most supportive, so we do miss them.

When you go out and see your fans, whats the one thing you appreciate the most about them?
I like the ones who want to drink, and have fun with us and talk about other things than the music. It’s good to meet new people and see the impact. Your friends will always tell you you’re doing good, where as fans are honest.

You guys are nominated for Emerging Artist, and hopefully you guys win. You’re also presenting. What’s the award your presenting?
We’re doing single of the year.

Awesome, well that’s everything and good luck on your nominations. Hopefully it opens for a lot of new doors. Is there anything your expecting out of it? If you do win?
Just looking forward too it. Apparently there’s a cash prize. We need money. It’s always good, any little bit helps like the food on the table.

Catch The Glorious Sons on tour in the fall, meanwhile check out their music video for their single “Mama”.
