An Evening Honouring Chris Tucker in Toronto

Chris Tucker in Toronto

With big hits such as “Friday“, “Silver Linings Playbook” and the infamous “Rush Hour” series co-starring Jackie Chan, the one and only Chris Tucker spent his evening in Toronto reflecting back on his career and moving forward with new opportunities and the future. “Comedy prepares me for stuff that happens on screen, just have faith that the role would come to me no matter what it holds; whether it be drama, romance or even a thriller” he said. “I’m always looking for a role that moves me and gets to me.

He also mentioned the hardships of being an actor and what it takes to find work that is meaningful to both him and the team around it, rather than just picking up a script he doesn’t believe in. He goes on to say that there also came a time where his long time friend Eddie Murphy asked him why he hasn’t done any work recently. “If it’s a good script for me, then I’ll give it a shot. People like Tom Cruise doesn’t always get a perfect script, either.” Tucker also spent most of his time off doing some charity work, thanking his acting career as it gave him open doors to give back and get involved in the world. “It really makes me appreciate stuff, like this bottled water!

As the interview concluded, he left us with an amazing thought: “You shouldn’t outdo yourself, but you gotta keep doing“. Motivating us here at The Xtra Mile, Tucker gave us a lot to think about and our plans to make this project even better for you guys. After a great experience thanks to Chris himself and the folks at the Canadian Film Centre (@cfccreates on Twitter), we had a chance to catch up with him and let him know what a drawing interview and evening we had spent with him, responding with nothing but laughs and gracious thank you’s.
