TIFF 2018 : Potential films to watch out for
It’s that time of the year again! The Toronto International Film Festival’s (TIFF 2018) 43rd year will showcase some of the most exceptional selection of films this year. Starting Sept 6, TIFF will feature 21 world premieres, seven international premieres, eight North American premieres and 11 Canadian premieres, including 13 features directed by women.
Here are the top films for TIFF 2018 that we think are Oscar buzz-worthy!
The Hate U Give
(Based on the critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller by Angela Thomas)
A Star Is Born
(I’m in love with Lady Gaga and her voice)
Widows
(As soon as I heard Viola Davis was in this.. I knew)
If Beale Street Could Talk
(When you get goosebumps from a trailer)
Beautiful Boy
(My Favourite thing is seeing Steve Carell not doing comedy)
First Man
(The last two films Damien Chazelle had at TIFF [La La Land and Whiplash] won Oscars. Will he be able to do it again?)
A Million Little Pieces
(This buzz worthy film also features Odessa Young, who is in also in Assassination nation which has also been receiving quite a lot of buzz)
Destroyer
(Super excited about this one, couldn’t even recognize Nicole Kidman!)
Some other great films to look out for Her Smell, Vox Lux, What They Had, The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, The Predator, Assassination Nation.
And is anyone else super disappointed Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria didn’t make the cut?!
TIFF 2018 runs from Sep 6 – Sep 16. For tickets and info, visit tiff.net.
