The 2016 Interior Design Show
The Interior Design Show (IDS) returns for its 18th year for a three-day show of bringing together the newest and most innovative international and Canadian Design. These three full days included inspirational exhibits and international speakers including presented by Scavolini, as well as International Guest of Honour Tom Dixon, presented by Caesarstone Canada and Klaus by Nienkamper.
Prior to the show launch, on Thursday night we had the chance to preview the exhibit during the exclusive opening night party. With over 5,000 of the industry’s greatest influencers all together connecting with design and show floor entertainment, this was definitely one of the hottest nights of the year.
Thermador provided some great samplers by demonstrating some of their products. We had the chance to see their cooktops and ovens operate. Guests were also treated to a delicious thermador-themed cake.
Miele, one of the major sponsors also had a section set up, where guests had the opportunity to taste some hot dogs and coffee made straight from their products. They showcased their brand new espresso machine, which made cappuccinos, lattes, tea and even included a removable tank which keeps milk fresh for up to 12 hours .
Another major attraction was the Habitat for Humanity- Brick for Brick. An entire house made of Mega Bloks to raise awareness that 1 in 5 Canadian families are living in unstable homes. Each virtual brick donated, helps buy a real brick that add up to build real homes, helping families in real housing needs. Donations can be made at Habitat.ca/Brickforbrick
Throughout the weekend, guest speakers dropped by to inspire, educate and expose professionals to products and designers. One of the more popular speaker sessions was Ora ïto, an iconoclastic artist known for his developed collections with brands such as Adidas, Citroën, Thierry Mugler, Toyota, Biotherm, Levi’s, Davidoff, Nike, Danone, Kenzo, LG electronics, Guerlain, Ballantine’s, L’Oréal Professional, Sagem, and Habitat.
We were also treated to a special media preview day with Jillian Harris (Love it or List it Canada’) for the launch of excel’s naturally sweetened gum. Read more about the launch here!
Definitely a great way to kick off January 2016. We can’t wait for the next show!
