Review “Ticket to Paradise”
Ticket to Paradise brings George Cloonley and Julia Roberts together on the big screen for 90minutes of joy
It’s been some time since we’ve had a good rom-com on the big screen, thankfully filmmaker Ol Parker( Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) brings Ticket to Paradise onto the big screen. With a cast like George Cloonley and Julia Roberts in a beautiful picturesque settings of mojitos, oceans and white beaches, how can the film go wrong?
A Ticket to Paradise centres around parents David (George Cloonley) and Georgia (Julia Roberts) who were once married but ended their relationship with a bitter divorce. The two now loathe each other but have to come together for their daughter, Lily (Kaitlyn Denver) college graduation, and they want nothing more than to be far away from each other as much as possible. Once graduation finishes, Lily and her best friend Wren (Billie Lourde) decide to go on a post graduation vacation to Bali, where she meets Gede (Maxime Bouttier) and falls in love within two months of meeting him and decides to get married. Her parents get an unexpected call asking them to come to Bali for her wedding. David and Georgia dreading to go with one another, come to terms that they are going to do everything they can to put a stop to the wedding and stop their daughter from making the same mistakes they did.
There were some good laughs, but there wasn’t really a big comedy aspect to it. There were definitely parts of the film that Parker could have taken further, and the storyline is pretty simple and nothing special. Very predictable and it does focus a lot more on Lily’s storyline than it did with David and Georgia. Though seeing Clooney and Roberts on the big screen was such a delight. They made the film so enjoyable and kept me entertained to make up for the lacklustre storyline. I could watch these two for hours, and it’s definitely worthwhile watching. Cute story, great cast, and it might make you want to visit beautiful Bali.
