Review ‘Old’

Remember when we’re just young children, and in the blink of an eye it feels likes our childhood flies by, and we just suddenly feel “Old”?  Unlike his previous films, Director M. Night Shyamalan turns the whole film into a series of clues and horror thrill anxiety right until the end. Old is a film that brings attention to the one thing that we are all afraid of, becoming old.

Old starts off like any Hollywood film, with a happy couple and their two kids on an all-inclusive vacation. They arrive at what seems to be an almost too perfect paradise and instantly get chosen to do a day trip on an island with some other families. Little did they know they would be walking into a trap where time doesn’t stop, it speeds up x20. Shyamalan does a great job focusing on one of life’s greatest fears, growing up. We start to see wrinkles, sicknesses, children becoming adults, and selfish adults who grow into these dark versions of themselves created by the fear of anxiety.

The film gets confusing at times, it does keep you on the edge and I did quite enjoy the ending, so it’s definitely worth sticking around for. You do get lost in Shyamalan’s world, but every moment was filled with questions, and everything does get answered in the end!
