Review ‘Lumina’

[Review by Stefan Chiarantano]

Lumina, directed and written by Gino McKoy, is an upcoming American science fiction horror film that promises to captivate audiences. The story revolves around four friends who embark on a desperate search for their abducted friend. As they delve deeper into the mystery, their lives are forever altered by the unfolding events.

Rupert Lazarus portrays Alex, the grief-stricken boyfriend who becomes the driving force behind the search. Sidney Nicole Rogers embodies Patricia, a steadfast friend who stands by Alex’s side. Eleanor Williams takes on the role of Tatiana, the girlfriend who mysteriously vanishes in a blinding flash of light. Ken Lawson portrays George, a loyal friend who assists Alex in seeking answers. Andrea Tivdar plays Delilah, a close friend of Alex. Despite her jealousy toward Tatiana, Delilah ultimately supports Alex in his quest. Eric Roberts brings Thom to life—a duplicitous and dangerous character who holds crucial information for the troubled Alex. Emily Hall portrays the enigmatic character Chere. Meanwhile, Rachel Mellen and Collin Goodwin step into the roles of Tatiana’s parents, adding emotional depth to the narrative.

The film’s opening scene masterfully sets the stage. Against the backdrop of a planet encircled by rings, a barren desert landscape unfolds. A human skull encased in a helmet, a space-suited driver in a jeep, and hovering spaceships create an eerie tableau. As an investigator sifts through debris at a crash site, a miniature alien-like dinosaur creature hovers over a mysterious phone. The distant sound of screams emanating from the phone transports us back six months, launching the narrative.

Lumina

Alex’s girlfriend, Tatiana, mysteriously vanishes in a blinding flash of light. Alex grapples with hallucinations, his grip on reality slipping as he imagines Tatiana’s image in the swimming pool. In a surreal dream sequence, his spirit leaves his body, nearly strangling Patricia as she investigates his frantic screams. Alex enlists George’s help to help uncover the truth, convinced that Tatiana is still alive. The four friends embark on a perilous journey through a desert landscape, encountering strange phenomena, human guards, advanced weaponry, and monstrous creatures.

The film seamlessly blends elements of sci-fi, horror, and drama, promising an exhilarating experience for viewers. Gino McKoy’s directorial prowess shines through with his talented cast of actors. As Lumina prepares to grace screens everywhere, it’s clear his vision promises to leave an indelible mark on science fiction cinema.

Good to see that you have a good grasp of Lumina considering that many others are oblivious of what is transpiring. Your use of words like ‘captivate audiences’ and the ‘unfolding events’ or ‘duplicitous’ (Thom) or ’emotional depth’ (Patricia). Lumina does seamlessly blend elements of sci-fi, horror, and drama. ‘Gino McKoy’s (Sci-Fi) directorial prowess shines through.’
