#OSHEAGA Day 3 recap

James Bay
James Bay

Day Three of the festival:

At 2:20pm on August 2, James Bay took the stage. With a large crowd of both young and old fans Bay seemed to be comfortable with what he was doing. Playing a bunch of songs including his hit single “Hold Back the River”. Considering this was my first time seeing him live I have to say that I am definitely now a huge fan.

MS MR
MS MR

Following James Bay’s Performance I head to see Ms Mr. This duo from New York played a variety of songs including “Hurricane”, “How Does it Feel”, and “Bones” . The last time I saw them the crowd did not seem interested in them at all. Everyone around me was talking, yelling about how the need to “get more drunk” and seemed to be looking down at their phones. This time around I am HAPPY to say that none of this happened at all. Everyone was singing and jumping along to every song. People were on their phones but this time they were taking pictures of the band. I am glad to see that this band is getting the attention they deserve.

Edward Sharpe
Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros

As Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros made their way on stage you could just sense the chill vibe that seemed to be radiating from everyone on stage. This set was ANYTHING but boring, from beautiful melodies to a ton of crowd interactions, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros had one of the best sets of this year’s festival. The highlight of this set was when the band allowed a fan in a wheel chair and his friend’s that helped him crowd surf on stage. This was truly a magical moment. The set ended off with the crowd singing (with help of lead singer Alex) every word of “Home”.

Alt-J
Alt-J

Alt-J was up next, and while they couldn’t top the magical moment that happened during Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zero’s set, they still put on an awesome performance. Their mysterious visuals on the screens set the mood for their set. Alt-J played all of their most popular songs including “Left Hand Free” “Breezeblocks”, and “Every Other Freckle”. As their set grew to a close you could see how anxious people were getting for the Black Keys to take the stage.

The Black Keys
The Black Keys

The headliner of day three and final band of the 2015 festival was The Black Keys. The last time The Black Keys played Osheaga was in 2012, and with a new album out I was egar to see them preform yet again. Opening up with “Dead and Gone” followed with “ Run Right Back” allowed for the crowd to get, including myself extremely excited. The Black Keys played a mixture of old and new songs, which made up for an awesome set list. The Black Keys Closed off with “Little Black Submarines” and no encore. I was kind of disappointed that Osheaga did not do something big for their 10th birthday like they have done in the past. (Big Firework Display, Firefly lights falling from the sky, etc.) But nonetheless having The Black Keys close off this 10th Birthday put a smile on mine, and all the attendees faces.

Overall I would have to say that Osheaga 2015 was tons of fun. With great performances tons of activities to do and a bunch of great food trucks this year was a success, until next year Osheaga. (July 29-31st 2016)
