Nominees for The 2025 JUNO Awards are Announced
Josh Ross and Tate McRae lead with five nominations
Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd to follow with four
JUNO Week event updates include several exciting events throughout Vancouver in the lead-up to Canada’s Biggest Night in Music
(Press Release) TORONTO – Feb 11 — Today, The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced the nominees for The 54th Annual JUNO Awards. This year’s winners will be revealed in Vancouver, British Columbia at The JUNO Awards Gala Presented by Music Canada on Saturday, March 29 and The JUNO Awards Broadcast on Sunday, March 30, live on CBC.
JUNO Week events are coming to Vancouver with an exciting lineup of more than 25 public and private events. Fan favourite JUNOfest Presented by CBC Music to return and ready to light up two nights in Vancouver.

2025 JUNO Award Nominations
Calgary’s own Tate McRae co-leads this year’s JUNO nominations with a total of five. This follows her success in 2024 having won the 2024 Artist of the Year Award and Single of the Year* Award for her hit “greedy.” Country artist Josh Ross, one of Canada’s most promising singer-songwriter-performers, ties McRae, co-leading with five nominations. Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd follow with four nominations each. These four nominations bring The Weeknd even closer to being the most awarded artist in JUNO history, needing only three to match Anne Murray’s current top spot of 25.
This year’s Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees have also been nominated, including Sum 41 who are nominated for two Awards and Loreena McKennitt who is nominated for Traditional Roots Album of the Year. Sum 41’s induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and special final performance is presented by JUNOS Premier Sponsor, TD Bank Group.
The inaugural South Asian Music Recording of the Year Award features nominees including AP Dhillon, Chani Nattan, Inderpal Moga & Jazzy B, Jonita Gandhi, Karan Aujla and Yanchan Produced & Sandeep Narayan. AP Dhillon has also been nominated for Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year (Presented by Factor, The Government of Canada and Canada’s Private Radio Broadcasters) alongside fellow South Asian artists AR Paisley, and Sukha.
MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS and The JUNO Awards, will recognize one Canadian music educator’s impact not only on students but also on their community and the music education field, through the MusiCounts Teacher of the Year Award, presented by Anthem Entertainment. The 2025 nominees are:
- Greg Chomut – Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School, Thunder Bay, ON
- Robert Colbourne – Holy Heart of Mary Regional High School, St. John’s, NL
- Emily Dominey – Dundas Valley Secondary School, Hamilton, ON
- Jeannie Hunter – Nepean High School, Ottawa, ON
- Drew Van Allen – Nakoda Elementary School, Mînî Thnî, AB
The 2025 JUNO Awards will celebrate 208 nominees, including 67 first-time nominees. This represents the incredible depth and diversity that defines Canadian music across all 46 categories.
