Gotham premiers with strong ratings
Before there was Batman, Catwoman, Penguin, the Joker, Fish Mooney... there was Gotham. FOX’s big prime time crime show Gotham premiered last night with 8 million viewers and a 3.2 rating with adults 18-49. Gotham is the prequel to the Batman series, which tells the story of Detective James Gordon (Benjamin McKenzie) protecting a young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and the origins of several Batman villains.
The show had a lot of promotion through out the city, with several posters on subway stations, and even the Dundas Square billboard. The cast also came to promote the show back in June for the CTV Upfronts, which you can read about here.
The pilot begins with the famous story of who murdered the Wayne’s? Not only does it focus on specifically one aspect, but the viewers also start to see slow development on each of the villains. This episode, we were first slowly introduced to Catwoman( Camren Bicondova) where we don’t learn much about her character but we see how she was first involved in the case. We also briefly see the Joker (Cory Michael Smith) which again, we don’t see much except the fact he loves his riddles. The two other characters that we see a huge development is in Fish Mooney(Jada Pinkett Smith) and the Penguin(Robin Lord Taylor). We don’t want to spoil anything though!
Catch Gotham every Monday nights at 8PM EDT on FOX and CTV.
