#CanadianMusicWeek Presents The Agency Group Showcase @ Lee’s Palace

First up was Say Yes. While they weren’t as heavy as the other bands that played, they still seemed to perfectly fit in with the lineup. It was interesting to see that there wasn’t one “main” lead singer, rather Adam and Michael shared the role equally. The band played songs from their self titled EP, along with some newer songs, some of which they have never played live before this night. Everything about this performance seemed in sync and everyone in the band look like they were in their element. With this being said it was a solid performance.

Dead Tired was next on stage with full energy, and were anything but dead tired. As a HUGE Alexisonfire fan, I was excited to see George doing what he does best yet again. With that being said, each member of the band stood out on their own and not outshined. Everyone on stage had a tremendous amount of energy and showed no signs of slowing down. Dead Tired played a number of songs from their newly released EP. Overall I would have to say that their set did not disappoint, they were just as good as I knew they would be.

Having heard a lot about Single Mothers, I was curious to see exactly why there was so much buzz about them. As Lee’s Palace got more packed, the crowd started to get rowdier and as the crowd got rowdier the hotter Lee’s Palace became. This however did not stop anyone in Single Mothers from playing or singing their hearts out. Drew Thomson’s energy on stage was crazy yet exciting to watch. After watching their set, I would have to say that I now just might be a Single Mothers fan.

The Flatliners were the last band of the night. At this point in the night, Lee’s Palace was extremely hot! With no air conditioning and a lot of body heat this created sauna like temperatures. Even if you weren’t moving, there was bound to be a bit of sweat dripping down your face. However with this being said, this did not diminish their performance or the crowd’s excitement for their set at all. I truly applaud the whole band for playing as well as they did, especially after being under the stage lights as well. As soon as they launched into the first song you could tell by looking around the crowd that everyone was ready to have a good time. By mid set it was evident to see that even though it was HOT everyone was still enjoying themselves. Playing a mixture of both new and old songs allowed the crowd to move and sing along. Ending their set with one of their most known songs “Eulogy” was a great way to end a night filled of amazing music.

Prior to the show, we also had the chance to chat with Say Yes. With the demise of Alexisonfire, Jordan Hastings (Drummer) and long time friend Adam Michael (Guitar) decide to embark on a new journey. After “hunting” for bass players, Michael Zane was found and Say Yes was born.
