#CanadianMusicWeek Presents The 15th annual SiriusXM Indies

May 9, 2015, marked the 15th Annual SiriusXM Indies award show, with acts like Miracles, Broncho, The Glorious Sons, Alvvays and Billy Talent, this award show was something you did not want to miss.

First up was Miracles, a french folk-rock band from Quebec. As soon as the stepped on stage, they had tons of energy. Even though most of the crowd did not understand what they were saying, that did not stop them rocking out and bobbing their heads.

Shortly after, BRONCHO took the stage. This up and coming band definitely got the crowd going. While there set was quite short they played a number of songs including their single “Class Historian.”

The Glorious Sons were the third band to grace the stage. Looking out into the crowd it was pretty easy to tell that everyone was enjoying himself or herself while they were on stage. I would have to say that compared to the last time I saw them, they have really improved. Everything about their performance seemed tighter and more in sync.

Next to hit the stage was Toronto based band , Alvvays. The hype for band has been buzzing around for quite awhile now and with over 37k followers on social media, I was glad to finally see them preform live. Alvvays played a half hour set that included some of their hit songs like “Archie, Marry, Me” and “Next of Kin”. After finally seeing them play for the first time I now understand why they are as well liked as they are.

It was the moment everyone had been waiting for! The last band of the night was Billy Talent. 15 minutes before they went out on stage, the crowd began chanting and as soon as Billy Talent stepped on stage,  the crowd went crazy. They launched into their new single “Kingdom of Zod,” followed by “Devil in a Midnight Mass.” Just like every Billy Talent concert I have been to in the past, the whole band, especially front man, Ben Kowalewicz displayed a lot of energy and every song they played had the whole venue singing along. Hit song after hit song the crowd roared in appreciation. The final songs of the night were “Surprise Surprise,” “Try Honesty” and “Viking Death March”

Overall I would have to say attending the Indies was a great way to end Canadian Music Week 2015!
