ALBUM REVIEW: Tove Lo- Queen of the Clouds
She is literally the Queen of the Clouds, and one of my favorite new upcoming artist. Swedish singer and songwriter, Tove Lo releases her debut album Queen of the Clouds today. The album is an addition to her EP, Truth Serum, where the order of the track list is based on a relationship and it breaks down into three chapters. The album is honest, dark and the beginning track starts with THE SEX chapter, which the first stage of love unfolding. Tracks like ” Talking Body,” “Like Em Young,” and “Timebomb” summarizes the first stages of a relationship. The album then leads into the next chapter, THE LOVE, where one of my favourite tracks “Not on Drugs” kicks off with lyrics “I’m not on drugs, I’m just in love.” We all been there, where we’re crazy about love because without this person you feel lost.
Then we get into the darker part of the chapter, THE PAIN, where her hit single, Habits (Stay High) discuss the addiction to drugs to get over the pain and suffering. It’s truly a heart breaking and honest song which a lot of people can relate too. We can really feel the emotion and pain that Tove went through in writing this song. Tove summarizes this chapter by saying “and then there isn’t a good way to end things, cause it’s ending you know?” This album really tells the honest story of a heartbreak, and it’s real life situations that people are going through.
