2014 Joe Carter Classic Golf Tournament After Party
Last night, the Shangri La hotel hosted the 5th annual Joe Carter Classic after party. The golf tournament took place earlier in the day in Maple, Ontario. There were over 30 sports and entertainment celebrities raising funds to support the Children’s Aid Foundation. Each year the fund continues to raise more money and so far the fund has raised over $1 million towards child abuse and to benefit other local children’s charities.
After a full day of the tournament, the stars head onto the official VIP after party where we were graced in the presence of Charlie Sheen (Anger Management) and his finance Brett Rossi, Trish Stratus (former WWE), Joffrey Lupul (Toronto Maple Leafs alternate Captain), Alan Thicke (Growing Pains), Alfonso Ribeiro (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Salt-n-Pepa and of course Joe Carter (Major League Baseball).
We had a quick chat with Tony Todd (Anger Management). He tells us exactly why he’s apart of this charity, “We love giving back to the kids. It’s all about the kids and I love Toronto the best part is the people, they’re all very nice. The weather is great.”
We also had the chance to ask Joe Carter a few questions and how he goes the Xtra Mile to achieve a great charity event. He explains, “By bringing more celebrities and by trying to make it bigger and bigger each year. By bringing more people this year we added the Skins game, which raised a lot of money the day before where it was really a practice round. Since it is a tournament, it brings out the huge success, and we had more people involved. So now maybe next year or two years or so we might go to a bigger course, because so many people want to be involved in it.”
We had also had a brief chat with Toronto Maple Leaf’s own Joffrey Lupul. We asked him what he is currently doing while off season, and why the charity is so important to him. He tells us, “I was in London for a while, then Paris and I usually spend most of my off season in Southern California but now I’m done travelling. I have my own golf tournaments in my home town Edmonton. I have my one Thursday, August 21st, at North Saskatchewan River Keeper and it’s for the charity Change for Children. This is our 7th year and it’s not quite as big as Joe Carter Classic yet but we’re working to get there.” We know that Lupul is a huge music fan, and we also asked him what pumps him up before a game or what he listens too. Lupul laughs and tells us, “Um before a game, it kind of varies. I listen to some hip hop. There’s a band called Cloud Nothing and they’re like a punk band. They’re really really cool, and I like listening to them when I work out. But it always changes for me, whatever I’m feeling that particular day but Salt N Pepa, BizMarkie, I’ll give everyone a chance.”
